Three-Tikanga celebrations
January 10, 2006
In addition to local youth events, Youth Yeah! is focused on four main Tikanga events:
Pacific Wave (Tonga, December 2005)
Young Anglican leaders and ministers from all throughout the church met in Tonga, 2-10 December 2005, to help launch Youth Yeah! This gathering coincided with the 100th anniversary celebrations of St Andrew’s College in Nukualofa, and included prayer, worship, celebration, and planning for ways to make Youth Yeah! the best year it can be.
Tikanga Youth Exchange
The Tikanga Youth Exchange (TYE) is a common life conference of the General Synod for the youth of the Anglican Church. The next TYE meeting will be held in Gisborne, 20-25 January 2006, and will see delegates gathering from across Aotearoa-New Zealand and Polynesia.
General Synod / Te Hinota Whanui
The next meeting of the General Synod will be held in Christchurch, 6-12 May 2006. Three-Tikanga youth will be playing a part in the General Synod as delegates and stewards, and will celebrate alongside the youth of the Diocese of Christchurch as they mark the 150th anniversary of their Diocese.
The Big AYP
The last and biggest event of Youth Yeah! will be The Big AYP (Anglican Youth Party), which will be held in November 2006 in Auckland. A 12-hour celebration of Anglican youth music, drama, culture, joy and hope, this will be a great way to see out Youth Yeah! and to celebrate the best that the year has given.
Every event held during Youth Yeah! is important, because it reminds us of our mission and ministry to the young people of this church. Your prayers and active support are vital to the success of Youth Yeah!
What else can I do?
Youth Yeah! is a chance to celebrate. It’s also an opportunity for the whole church to reflect on youth ministry – what youth ministry is, the priority it is given, and what kind of resources are being allocated to it. Take action now to ensure that the church succeeds in its ministry to children, teenagers, young adults and young families – all the young people of the Kingdom of God!
